Itinerary
Day 1Arriving in Nida
After your transfer, settle into your room at Aika Guest House. At the welcome dinner, meet your fellow travellers and guide.
Day 2The Nidden artists' colony
Dr. Bernd Schimpke introduces the history of Nidden as an artists' village. Then explore the subjects of their paintings: fishers' houses, the old cemetery, the Red House and the “Italian View” by the Thomas Mann House.
Day 3Amber, dunes and lagoon
A guided visit to the Amber Museum and a walk to the Great Dune introduce art and landscape. Visit places that inspired Max Pechstein and see the dune from the water on a traditional Curonian sailing boat.
Day 4By boat to the Klaipėda region
A boat trip takes you across the lagoon to the Klaipėda region. An excursion to Šilutė, formerly Heydekrug, including a church visit, completes the day. Return to Nida in the evening.
Day 5Thomas Mann and the lighthouse
Visit the Thomas Mann House and walk to the lighthouse. Together, discover Nida's literary side and more views of the village.
Day 6By bicycle to Preila and Pervalka
A bicycle excursion takes you to Preila and Pervalka, historically known in German as Preil and Perwelk. A walk along the lagoon's Elk Trail rounds off the day.
